Man charged over fatal M1 crash

A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a motorway crash during a police pursuit.

Shaun Mould, 31, from Southampton, was remanded in custody until February at Chesterfield Magistrates' Court.

Neil Bennett, 26, from Peterlee, Co Durham, was earlier remanded on charges of aggravated vehicle taking.

It follows an incident on a slip road at Junction 29a on the M1 in Derbyshire on Sunday while a vehicle was being pursued by police.

Rear seat passenger Steven Bellerby, 25, also of Peterlee, died in the incident.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has investigated the crash, but said it had "no concerns" about the actions of the police driver pursuing the car.
