Calls for dialogue over wind farm

Residents in Derbyshire have been urged to have their say over plans for five 413ft (126m) wind turbines.

Some have voiced concerns over the scheme's visual and health impact after the designs, for a site on Matlock Moor, were unveiled on Friday.

But West Coast Energy said the facility would provide enough low-emission energy for about 7,000 homes.

The firm also has an application for a wind farm near Carsington Water going before the High Court.

Concerned residents

Barry Wild, who lives nearby, believes the turbines will ruin the area.

"The wind farm is far too close to properties and the noise pollution from this is going to affect our lives in a very drastic way.

"It will be 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year."

Steve Salt, from West Coast Energy, said: "If people have concerns, please come along to our exhibitions.

"We have already had one and overall the vast majority were in favour but some local people have concerns and we need to meet them and are quite happy to have a dialogue."

An exhibition will be held on 11 December at the Ashover Parish Hall Events Centre.
